It appears David Price sees a trend in the list of Boston Red Sox attending the White House later this week.
The Red Sox pitcher isn't on that list, joining manager Alex Cora, reigning MVP Mookie Betts and several others who have said they won't visit President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Thursday to celebrate Boston's 2018 World Series title.
On Monday, Price suggested the visit divided the club on racial lines by drawing attention to a tweet The Athletic's Steve Buckley sent Sunday.
As of Monday, every Red Sox player (or manager) who has said they're not going is a minority: Price, Cora, Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers, Sandy Leon, Christian Vazquez and Hector Velazquez.
Some have cited politics in their decision not to join their teammates -- Velazquez referenced Trump's comments about his native Mexico, and Cora cited disappointment over the administration's relief efforts in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria -- while others have declined to elaborate.
A sizable contingent of Red Sox players and executives still is expected to show up Thursday -- including J.D. Martinez, whose parents are of Cuban descent -- and the team's ownership insists it wants to leave politics out of the visit.

But Price, who also was placed on the 10-day injured list Monday with left elbow tendinitis, had no issue sharing his opinion on the thorny subject.
