Report: Francona to interview with Cardinals Thursday

Terry Francona and the Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2004 World Series, ending the 86-year-old drought.

Now, Francona could very well manage the team he beat to end that curse, as he will interview for the managerial position with the Cardinals on Thursday.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the Cardinals will begin their managerial interviews Thursday with Francona, the first of what they hope is a ten-day search for the successor to Tony LaRussa, who announced his retirement earlier this week.

There are "less than 10" candidates for the Cardinals managerial position, according to the report.
