John Havlicek, who passed away about a month ago at the age of 79, was honored at a memorial service in Boston Thursday. Former teammate Bill Russell was among those in attendance and shared a final goodbye on Twitter after the service concluded.

Havlicek and Russell were teammates on the Celtics from 1962-69, winning six championships together. The only year they didn't come away with an NBA title was the 1966-67 season.

After Russell retired following the 1969 season, Havlicek remained a member and leader of the Celtics for nine years. He won two more championships under head coach and former teammate Tommy Heinsohn in 1974 and 1976.

Havlicek retired as the Celtics' all-time leading scorer and a model for what being a Celtic really means. The team released an incredible video tribute on the day of his passing and honored him before Game 3 of their series with the Bucks while Milwaukee fans held a moment of silence for Hondo before Game 1 of that series.
