The Boston Celtics are on the road to play a shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers team at Wells Farco Center on Thursday night.
The Sixers will be without star center Joel Embiid, who dislocated his left ring finger in Monday's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Embiid has dominated the Celtics this season, averaging 26.6 points and 13 rebounds in two wins over Boston. The last time the 76ers had a four-game win streak against the Celtics was in 2002, and they can match that run with a victory Thursday night.
The Celtics are hoping to avoid a third straight loss after being soundly beaten 129-114 by the San Antonio Spurs at TD Garden on Wednesday night. Slow starts have plagued the C's in the New Year, and they can't afford another one versus a Sixers team that even without Embiid is still really talented.
