BOSTON — Fresh off their post-practice 1-on-1 work, Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter bestowed upon rookie Tacko Fall a new nickname: "The Senegalese Dirk."

The 7-foot-7 Fall and 6-foot-11 Kanter were doing post work but Fall often used his size advantage to simply shoot over the top of Kanter as seen in the video below.

Sometimes Fall didn’t even need to step back — or even jump — to loft shots over Kanter, which left the veteran big man comparing Fall to one-legged fadeaway legend Dirk Nowitzki.

“Not a lot of people know it but [Fall has] got the turnaround jump shot. [Tuesday] I called him, ‘The Senegalese Dirk,'” said Kanter. "He’s got that one-legged step-back fadeaway shot. He can actually make that. It's a pretty shot.”

Kanter has often raved about Fall and is hoping he sticks on Boston’s roster coming out of camp. Fall is on an Exhibit 10 deal — essentially a training camp invite — but is hoping to muscle his way into Boston’s final vacant roster spot. if he’s waived after camp, Fall could land with the Maine Red Claws, if he’s not scooped up by another team.

For now, Kanter is savoring those 1-on-1 battles.

"I'm not used to going up against a guy who is 7-foot-7,” said Kanter. "It’s tough. But I'm getting better and he's getting better He's learning, he's having fun, he's been playing unbelievable.”
