What exactly set Marcus Smart off on DeAndre' Bembry?
The Atlanta Hawks forward didn't discuss what words he exchanged with Smart that caused the Boston Celtics guard to charge at him in the third quarter of Saturday night's game.
But Bembry seemed pleased with his ability to keep his emotions in check, per Brad Rowland of UPROXX Sports.
According to Bembry, his disagreement with Smart started when the Celtics guard barked at Hawks rookie Trae Young.
Referee Phenizee Ransom then whistled Bembry and Smart for double technical fouls before a third-quarter jump ball, which led to Smart's ejection due to another technical he received earlier in the quarter.
Bembry believed the ejection was what set Smart off and took a subtle jab at the hot-headed guard while describing the incident.
Bembry isn't wrong, as Smart plays with a ferocious edge that sometimes boils over the whistle.
Smart didn't speak to the media after Boston's 113-105 win, so we still don't know what Bembry may have said to get under his skin. Expect the NBA to investigate the scuffle, however.
