Jayson Tatum and ‘Coach' Kyrie Irving together for Rising Stars Challenge

BOSTON -- It looks like Kyrie Irving and Jayson Tatum will be together during All-Star Weekend after all, although this probably isn’t what either had in mind. 

Tatum has been selected to participate for Team USA during the Mountain Dew Rising Stars Challenge, a team whose honorary coach will be … wait for it … Kyrie Irving!

The Rising Stars Challenge pits the best first and second-year players born in the United States against the best first and second-year International players. 

In addition to Tatum, Team USA includes Brooklyn’s Jarrett Allen; Sacramento’s Marvin Bagley III; Los Angeles Lakers’ Lonzo Ball; Atlanta’s John Collins; Sacramento’s De’Aaron Fox; Memphis’ Jaren Jackson Jr.; Los Angeles Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma; Utah’s Donovan Mitchell and Atlanta’s Trae Young. 

The ‘World’ team, whose honorary coach is Dallas’ Dirk Nowitzki, includes Toronto’s OG Anunoby; Phoenix’s DeAndre Ayton; Sacramento’s Bogdan Bogdanovic; Dallas’ Luka Doncic; Los Angeles Clippers’ Shai Gilgeous-Alexander; Brooklyn’s Rodions Kurucs; Chicago’s Lauri Markkanen; Minnesota’s Josh Okogie; Cleveland’s Cedi Osman and Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons.
