Fitchburg State player apologizes for brutal elbow

Fitchburg State basketball player Kewan Platt apologized for a vicious elbow to Nichols College's Nate Tenaglia earlier this week on Tuesday night.

The junior guards' apology was issued on his private Instagram account

It read:

I hereby want to apologize and show my deep regret upon my actions that occurred during the game against Nichols College the other night. What I did is totally unacceptable and not justified in any way. I got frustrated and lost control over my behavior. I know these words cannot undo my wrongdoings. In the future I promise to make better choices

Platt's high school coach Edson Cardoso insisted the behavior was out of character for a player twice named captain for his talent, competitiveness, and positivity.

Cordoso was shocked, as was Nichols head coach Scott Faucher. He told Yahoo Sports he wasn't really sure what provoked Pratt, and that “there wasn’t really anything before that, any incidents.”

The original play, which you can see below, resulted in Platt's suspension and a ban from campus.
