Kevin Youkilis certainly didn't receive any boos from the Fenway Faithful when he arrived back in town with the Chicago White Sox last season.
But he might not get the same reception next time.
Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that Youkilis and the New York Yankees have agreed to a one-year, 12 million dollar deal, "almost certainly pending physical".
The Yankees are without 3B Alex Rodriguez for perhaps the first half of the season, so Youkilis would most likely slide in at that spot.
Youkilis had a fall out with the Red Sox last season, reportedly at odds with then Sox manager Bobby Valentine, who questioned his desire to play at the start of the season.
The Red Sox traded Youkilis to the White Sox in late June for utility player Brent Lillibridge and RHP Zach Stewart, neither of whom are on the team anymore.
In nine seasons with the Red Sox, Youkilis played in 953 games, hitting .287 with 133 home runs and 564 at-bats. He won two World Series with the Red Sox, and was a major part of their 2007 World Series. Youkilis is a three-time All-Star (2008, 2009, 2011) and a Gold Glove winner (2007).
