Jerod Mayo -- only two weeks removed from injuring the MCL in his knee -- was a surprise participant in Friday's practice, but Tom E. Curran doesn't think he'll play Sunday against the Cowboys.
But it also doesn't appear that his return, originally thought to be 6-8 weeks from the time of the injury, is that far away.
"I'd say it's still an uphill battle for Mayo to be out on the field against Dallas," said Curran on Friday's 'SportsNet Central'. "But with the bye week next week and then an AFC game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in two weeks, you can almost bet on" Mayo playing against the Steelers on Oct. 30.
