Manning: Brady apologized for email comment

It was an email that could have made the Nov. 29 regular-season game between the Patriots and Broncos a little awkward.

When the NFLPA's lawsuit against the NFL -- including a lengthy transcript of Tom Brady's appeal of his four-game suspension -- was made public on Tuesday, so too were many of Brady's personal emails. One such note that was released featured an exchange between Brady and a friend, discussing an article in which Brady's career is compared to Denver quarterback Peyton Manning's.

Brady, writing on the day before last year's regular-season meeting between the Patriots and the Broncos, said: "I've got another 7 or 8 years. He has 2. That's the final chapter."

Both Manning and Brady have insisted for years that they share a friendship as two of the NFL's longest-tenured quarterbacks. On Wednesday, Manning seemed to work toward publicly maintaining that relationship, saying that he wasn't bothered by Brady's email comment.

In fact, Brady offered Manning an apology via text message after the email was made public, Manning said.

"It wasn't necessary," Manning told reporters. "I have been roasted. That wasn't a roast."

Manning, 39, and the Broncos offense will operate under the guidance of new head coach Gary Kubiak in 2015. They reached the AFC Divisional Round last season before falling to the Colts in Denver.
