NFL rumors: This Patriots rival could trade for Texans' Jadeveon Clowney

The Miami Dolphins are expected to be among the NFL's worst teams in the 2019 season, but they could be acquiring an elite defensive player to improve their pass rush.

Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney was franchise tagged in March, but there has been speculation that a trade could be worked out to allow both sides to move on.

One team that appears to be considering such a move is the Dolphins, who should see improvement on defense under new head coach Brian Flores, who has spent the majority of his NFL career as a defensive coach for the New England Patriots.

The Dolphins have recently met with Clowney, per multiple reports.

Here are some of the financial details involving a potential Clowney trade to the Dolphins or any other team, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

Injuries were a concern with Clowney early in his career, but the 26-year-old has missed only three games over the last three seasons.

The No. 1 pick in the 2014 draft tallied a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2017 and followed that up with nine sacks and a career-high three fumble recoveries last season. The Dolphins posted 31 sacks in 2018, the third-fewest in the league.
