Patriots vs. Redskins Week 5 live score, highlights, analysis and injury updates

The New England Patriots barely escaped Buffalo with a 16-10 win over the Bills last week, and they'll try to improve on that performance Sunday when they play the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field.

The Redskins enter Week 5 as one of the five winless teams remaining. They also have the second-worst scoring differential in the NFL at minus-52. Washington's early-season schedule has been difficult, but there's little doubt it's one of the worst teams in the league. Oddsmakers agree, as the Patriots are favored by as much as 16 points at some sportsbooks.

New England is 4-0, but there are concerns about its offense. The Patriots scored just one offensive touchdown versus the Bills, and the unit has scored only 19 points over the last six quarters. One goal against the Redskins should be getting the rushing attack going. Second-year running back Sony Michel has yet to enjoy any consistent success through four games.

Keep it right here for all of the latest highlights, score updates, injuries and quick analysis from Patriots vs. Redskins.

FINAL, 33-7 Patriots

Fourth quarter, 9:14, 33-7 Patriots: Another quick scoring drive for the Patriots, this time going 58 yards on 10 plays in 4:17. New England has scored 33 unanswered points, with the latest score coming on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady to tight end Ryan Izzo.

Third quarter, 1:30, 26-7 Patriots: In other action, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph had to be carried off the field in the second half after taking a very hard hit to the head.

Third quarter, 10:57, 26-7 Patriots: It didn't take long for the Patriots to find the end zone in the second half. They went 75 yards on seven plays in just 4:17, culminating with a 29-yard pass from Tom Brady to running back Brandon Bolden. Bolden has touchdowns in back-to-back weeks.

Third quarter, 15:00, 12-7 Patriots: The Patriots have downgraded Phillip Dorsett to out.

New England will start the second half with the ball.

Halftime, 12-7 Patriots

Second quarter, 0:30, 12-7 Patriots: Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy threw an interception with under a minute remaining in the first half, giving the Patriots a chance for a few extra points before halftime. Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty picked off the pass to give New England it's league-leading 11th interception of the season.

Tom Brady and the Patriots offense took over on Washington's 11-yard line but couldn't find the endzone. New England had to settle for a 23-yard field goal from Mike Nugent.

Second quarter, 5:17, 9-7 Patriots: The Patriots offensive line couldn't protect Tom Brady against a blitz and he threw an interception in the red zone. Washington took over at its own 2-yard line.

The Patriots offense as a whole is really struggling right now:

Brady's interception ended a drive that began after Jonathan Jones forced a fumble that was recovered by Jamie Collins for the game's first takeaway. New England entered Week 5 leading the league with 10 takeaways (all interceptions).

Second quarter, 10:35, 9-7 Patriots: Mike Nugent's first field goal attempt with the Patriots is good from 37 yards out, and New England has its first lead of the game.

The Patriots defense also has found its groove again after allowing a 65-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

First quarter, 2:47, 7-6 Redskins: The Patriots went for it on 4th-and-1 at the 21-yard line and lost yardage on a direct snap to James White. New England decided against kicking a 39-yard field goal with new kicker Mike Nugent, who missed an extra point earlier in the quarter.

Earlier on the drive, Josh Gordon got past a Redskins player with this impressive stiff arm.

First quarter, 7:09, 7-6 Redskins: Julian Edelman finishes a six-play, 75-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown catch. The Patriots responded to the Redskins' score in just 2:17.

New kicker Mike Nugent missed the extra point, however. New England kickers have missed a PAT in four consecutive games.

First quarter, 8:26, 7-0 Redskins: The Patriots' depth at wide receiver takes another hit.

First quarter, 9:17, 7-0 Redskins: The Patriots are one of the league's best tackling teams, but they didn't show it on Steven Sims Jr.'s 65-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. Sims burst through the second level of the New England defense and outran everyone else to give Washington an unexpected lead.

The Patriots trail for the first time all season.

First quarter, 10:11, 0-0: The Patriots couldn't get much going on their first possession. Sony Michel did, however, catch his first pass of the season. The drive might've turned out quite differently if Tom Brady didn't overthrow a wide open Josh Gordon deep down the middle of the field.

First quarter, 13:07, 0-0: The Redskins were forced to punt after a third-down sack by rookie edge rusher Chase Winovich. He now leads the Pats with four sacks on the season. It's still a little crazy the Patriots got him in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

First quarter, 15:00, 0-0: The Redskins won the toss and will receive. Patriots punter Jake Bailey's kickoff (the first of his NFL career) is a touchback.

12:53 p.m.: Devin McCourty's latest pre-game pep talk is one of his best yet!

12:45 p.m.: Tom Brady looks and sounds ready to go!

12:25 p.m.: Could this conversation also involve Antonio Brown? The NFLPA reportedly filed grievances Friday against the Patriots and Oakland Raiders on the wide receiver's behalf.

12:20 p.m.: A little relaxation on the sideline for Tom Brady before today's game.

12:14 p.m.: New Patriots kicker Mike Nugent just completed his pre-game warmups:
