Now that the Patriots have missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008, has Bill Belichick finally realized a few things? Albert Breer weighs in.

Might Jedd Fisch return to the college football ranks?

The New England Patriots' quarterbacks coach interviewed with the University of Arizona on Monday night for the Wildcats' head coach job, Jason Scheer of WildcatAuthority.com reports.

Fisch is finishing his first season as the Patriots' quarterbacks coach and came to New England in January by way of the Los Angeles Rams, where he served as a senior offensive assistant in 2018 and assistant offensive coordinator in 2019.

Prior to 2018, Fisch spent three seasons at the college level as Michigan's pass game coordinator (2015-16) and UCLA's offensive coordinator and interim head coach (2017).

According to Scheer, Fisch has family at Arizona and knows school president Robert Robbins personally. But San Jose State head coach Brent Brennan is also a strong candidate for the Wildcats job, per Scheer, while former Arizona star Antoine Cason is in the running as well after the school fired head coach Kevin Sumlin last week.

Patriots assistants and front office executives usually garner interest around this time of year. Director of player personnel Nick Caserio reportedly will be in the running for the Carolina Panthers' general manager job, while offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels again should be a top candidate for several NFL head coach openings.

It appears you can add Fisch to that list, and with New England's season officially set to end after Week 17, we could see movement on the coaching front a bit earlier than usual.
