The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New England Patriots last week at Heinz Field, and it's very possible they will determine who the Pats play in the Wild Card round of the AFC playoffs.
The Steelers entered Week 16 atop the AFC North at 8-5-1, but after the Baltimore Ravens beat the Los Angeles Chargers on Saturday night, Pittsburgh needs to beat the New Orleans Saints on the road Sunday to remain in first place in their division.
A Steelers win over the Saints would keep the Ravens in the No. 6 seed in the AFC. The Patriots currently are the No. 3 seed in the AFC, and if those seedings held through next week, New England would host Baltimore on Wild Card Weekend for the first time since 2009.
If the Steelers lose to the Saints -- which is very possible because New Orleans is the NFC's best team and will clinch the conference's top seed with a win -- they will fall out of a playoff spot entirely. A Steelers loss would make the Indianapolis Colts the No. 6 seed, assuming Indy beats the New York Giants on Sunday. If the Steelers and Colts both lose in Week 16, the Titans become the No. 6 seed, and they beat the Patriots 34-10 back in Week 10.
The Patriots can still earn the No. 2 seed, but only if they win out and the Houston Texans lose one of their last two games.
