Tom Brady did exactly what you'd expect during Patriots' bye week

If you watched Tom Brady's Facebook mini-documentary, "Tom Vs Time," you know the New England Patriots quarterback is an admitted football film junkie.

So, it shouldn't surprise you one bit that Brady used his downtime during the Patriots' bye week to -- watch film. A lot of it.

"I took a lot of time this weekend to watch the entire season a couple of times," Brady said Monday during his weekly interview with WEEI's "Mut & Callahan." "We just had a lot of communication with our coaches and I think a lot of guys took the weekend to let their minds really be free of football for a few days."

As Brady pointed out, many players use the bye week to get away from football and decompress. The QB's version of decompression apparently is to watch all of New England's 10 games multiple times in the span of a couple days.

Naturally, Brady is champing at the bit to return to action this Sunday against the New York Jets.

"I am excited to start this week," Brady said. "We are in (Monday) and we basically work all week and then we head to New York. This time of year football season really flies by because you have the holidays and a lot of things going on, but we’ve put ourselves in a decent position."

The Patriots sit at 7-3 coming out of the bye week, and the Kansas City Chiefs' wild loss Monday night means the AFC's No. 1 seed still is in reach for Brady and Co. if they can find their groove down the stretch.

If New England falters, though, it won't be due to lack of preparation by the quarterback and offensive coordinator.

"I do it every year and I have watched a lot of tape this year like I always do of our offense," Brady said of watching film during the bye week. "I have a great communication with Josh (McDaniels), and I know he does the same. I think we are just trying to figure out ways to move the ball down the field and score points. Some weeks it has been easier than others and some weeks it has been tough. Hopefully we can put it all together -- put all the pieces in place and start playing the football I think we’re capable of.”
