Adam McQuaid, Colin Miller being medically evaluated after Bruins win

ST LOUIS – The Bruins enjoyed one of their most dominant wins of the season in a 5-3 thrashing of the St. Louis Blues at the Scottrade Center on Tuesday night, but they may end up paying a price for the two points.

Right shot defensemen Adam McQuaid and Colin Miller both went down with injuries in the win over the Blues, and forced an undermanned B’s back end to work double time in order to take down St. Louis. It appeared that Miller returned to the bench late in the third period, but B’s coach Claude Julien said both players were being evaluated following the win over the Blues.

“They’re both actually being seen by doctors right now,” said Claude Julien following the win in St. Louis. “Adam McQuaid is being evaluated, and the same thing with Miller. It’s hard to have a diagnosis this shortly after the game.”

McQuaid appeared to perhaps injure his right shoulder in the first period on a heavy collision with Blues forward Patrik Berglund, and had to be helped back to the dressing after staying on the ice for a few minutes following the initial hit. Miller had an awkward collision with Zdeno Chara and a Blues player in the third period where it appeared that he twisted his right leg, and was spotted flexing the foot and leg as he skated off the ice and down to the Bruins dressing room.

It’s obviously far too early to make any assumptions about either player’s availability for Thursday night against the Nashville Predators, but the B’s do have two extra D-men in Joe Morrow and John-Michael Liles just in case both players aren’t ready to go.
