The Bruins have a shorter summer than every NHL team not named after a color.

After losing to the St. Louis Blues in the Stanley Cup Final, Boston has entered an offseason with lots of potential roster choices to make. And on Tuesday, the B's announced exactly when that offseason will end, and when the 2019-20 season will begin.

Bruce Cassidy's group will resume competitive play in roughly three months, on September 16 versus the New Jersey Devils. Their preseason schedule includes six games, including two matchups against both the Devils and Philadelphia Flyers. The puck drops on next year's regular season on October 4.
