The Boston Bruins have added another defenseman to the mix.

The team announced Monday morning that it has signed Brady Lyle to a two-year entry-level contract that includes an $800,000 salary cap hit at the NHL level.

The 21-year-old defenseman is listed at 6-foot-3 and 213 pounds.

Why red-hot Bruins are early winner of 2021 NHL trade deadline

He's an offensive-minded defenseman whose six goals are tied for the most among AHL blueliners this season. Lyle has tallied 12 points overall in 19 games for the Providence Bruins in 2020-21.

The Bruins' blue line has been hit hard by injuries throughout the season, and the group is still without one of its most important players -- Brandon Carlo.

The addition of Lyle adds some needed depth and offensive skill to the blue line. It would be a good idea to get him some NHL experience this week with Boston's next three games against the last-place Sabres in Buffalo.
