Haggerty's Morning Skate: Olczyk on Blackhawks' moves

Here are all the links from around the hockey world, and what I’m reading with Patrick Kane reportedly, allegedly, possibly being eyed by police for something in his home state of New York.

*FOH (Friend of Haggs) Eddie Olczyk weighs in with his thoughts on the offseason moves for the Chicago Blackhawks.

*Speaking of Kane, PHT writer Jason Brough has the sketchy details of the report revolving around Kane and the police in Hamburg, N.Y. Nobody is going on the record to comment, but it’s a little suspicious that a police department isn’t willing to make their call log available to reporters without a Freedom of Information Act request. Not sure what Kane actually did or didn’t do given his history of past incidents, but it all seems to add up to something.

*This TV news station report furthers the initial Patrick Kane report and says that the incident involves Kane and a woman. That’s definitely not something the NHL wants to hear and frankly something nobody wants to hear.

*NHL commissioner Gary Bettman says that the outdoor games are “far from being overdone,” with a series of three outdoor tilts scheduled for the upcoming season. Three feels like a manageable number if the NHL keeps it to the Winter Classic and a pair of Stadium Series games.

*It looks like the Red Deer Rebels are chasing after Boston University sophomore defenseman and Calgary Flames draft pick Brandon Hickey, who has consistently said that he’s staying in school.

*The New Jersey Devils announced that Mike Cammalleri will wear No. 13 for the team after previous GM Lou Lamoriello had forbidden players from wearing that number in his years running the Devils. There are so many interesting quirks in Lou’s world, aren’t there?

Bruins giving Poitras another chance in NHL after strong AHL stint

*Vancouver Canucks GM Jim Benning is finding it “hard” to effectively change the makeup of the roster he inherited.

*Here’s a cool photo contest being run by Celebrity Marketing where the winning entry gets to watch a Bruins preseason game in Ray Bourque’s Luxury Suite at TD Garden.

*For something completely different: A great event is coming up this month between NECN and the Animal Rescue League, so here to commemorate that is a slide show of NECN employees with their pets. My wife and I adopted two black labs a few years ago, and it was one of the best decisions that we’ve ever made.
